Sometimes the truth is messy and hard merely information technology isn't always best left. Sometimes information technology saves y'all.

I absolutely Adore Mhairi McFarlane'south books, and this one was no exception. I've reread Who'due south That Girl? a one thousand thousand times, so I was so eager to see how her follow upward would exist. Don't You lot Forget Most Me is a hilarious tale of finding yourself, second chances, and growing up. There is a trigger warning for described sexual assault in this book.

In that location is just such lovely character development in this novel. Georgina has basically been in a ditch, professionally. She's dating a comedian who turns out to be cheating on her, and, oh aye, tries to gaslight her throughout the novel. But she'due south had enough, and I loved following her as she grew into her full potential throughout the book.

Upwards till now, her life has pretty much been defined by horrible occurrences: she was sexually assaulted at a high schoolhouse formal; years afterward, her father died, causing her to driblet out of university in her get-go twelvemonth; and at present her young man's gone and cheated on her after she was fired past her godawful dominate. Nevertheless, throughout the form of this book, Georgina comes more than to terms with herself instead of blaming everything on others. She takes her fate into her ain easily considering she is more what has happened to her; she is more than than the men who have ruined her life.

No one else is going to fix you. The but person who can fix you, is you.

This is perhaps the heaviest of McFarlane's books (that I've read), mostly because of the sexual assault. It is not, in a manner, a big office of the volume; in fact, it's described at the very terminate. Yet it's there, sometimes, in Georgina's daily life, how she'due south acted, how she reacts to people. Don't You Forget Virtually You lot sends a very powerful message against sexual set on in this way.

More than prominently is the second chance romance (in a way). Georgina and Lucas took A-Levels together (please right me if I'm wrong, I'm American), but their passionate fling was cut brusk and years later on, Georgina somehow ends up working in Lucas'southward bar. Anyways, Lucas is the best and I miss him. We're talking broody; we're talking hot; nosotros're talking about the chemistry that they accept together. I mean, this adjacent line however makes me scream:

Lucas mumbles into my hair: "Of all the faces to destroy."

Their banter is and then great, and you could cut the tension between them with a pocketknife, it was and then thick. This is mayhap the most romance heavy of McFarlane's books (that I've read), and I loved it for this, and so much. I'm honestly still screaming about the catastrophe!

I also loved the side characters. Georgina's friends are the best. They support each other through ups and downs. Her sister ways well and tries her hardest. Lucas'south brother adds some more sense of humor into an already humorous book.

The writing is always my favorite aspect of McFarlane's books. She writes with such a cutting wit; I really found myself laughing out loud at this novel.

For the first fourth dimension, I'm non scared of the future. I want to apply its potential. Words saved me. My words.

Don't You Forget About Me contains the strongest parts of McFarlane'due south books: witty humor, realistic characters, and adorable romances. It also sends a powerful message nearly sexual assault, and how people are more than what their experiences. In short, Don't You Forget About Me is a story of letting other people in, of second chances that are actually third and fourth ones, and of finding yourself when you thought you were lost.
